Mandi Bahauddin(Sher Gondal) : Health department team led by Inspector Muhammad Afzal raided an illegally run laboratory in Kashmir Colony and recovered 12 bottles of contaminated blood drawn from drug addicts. Three persons were caught red-handed against whom police after registering case have started investigation.
While talking to media persons the inspector said the accused had been selling blood bottle for Rs 800. The blood was found drawn from sick persons. DCO Muzaffar Sial has directed EDO Health Mian Arshad to hold inquiry and take strict actions against culprits involved in selling blood of sick persons for transfusion purpose.
Population Welfare Department held a healthy baby show at Phalia as part of observance of Family Planning week. 30 babies participated in the competition. Hazifa Butt was declared first while Dursmun and Mehr un Nisa won the second and third positions respectively. Afzal Phaphra Population Welfare Officer distributed awards and gifts to position winning babies. The function was attended by parents of babies and members of civil society. Speaking on the occasion, Afzal said main purpose of celebrating family planning week was to encourage female babies. Without Investment on education of girls dream for progress and prosperity of the country could not be fulfilled, he noted.
Meanwhile cooking competition was held under arrangement of Population Welfare department at Mandi Bahauddin and in other tehsil HQs of Phalia and Malikwal. Considerable number of women participated in the competition. Additional District Collector Afzaal Warriach awarded prizes to winners of the first three positions.
Meanwhile ; Anti Congo virus campaign continues in the district. Live stock department team sprayed 590 small cattle heads and 195 big at cattle market under supervision of Deputy District Officer Dr. Zia Ullah Gondal. Mean while in Tehsil Malakwal Assistant Commissioner Asif Raza called Tehsil Emergency Response Committee meeting where progress of ongoing campaign to end Dengue and Congo virus was reviewed. He directed Veterinary Officer complete spray of sacrificial animals before approaching Eid ul Azha. He said spray of animals is as important as anti dengue spray. He asked TMA and Anti Dengue/Anti Congo virus staff to remain on alert till the event of Eid.
