Independence Day was celebrated in Mandi Bahauddin with national spirit

Independence Day was celebrated in Mandi Bahauddin with national zeal and spiritMandi Bahauddin( Sher Gondal ) : The Independence Day of Pakistan was celebrated in Mandi Bahauddin district with national zeal, spirit and renewed pledge to make Pakistan a land of peace.

The main Independence Day function was held at Tehsil Municipal Administration Office’s lawn on Sunday where DCO Muzaffar Sial was the chief guest. He along with DPO Omer Farooq, ADC Afzaal Warraich and other district administration and police officers unfurled the national flag during a ceremony. A smartly dressed police contingent presented salute to the chief guest.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest said that main purpose of these celebrations was to review our past performance and renew our pledge to work with enhanced vigor and enthusiasm for making the country stable and prosperous.

Referring to ongoing terrorism in the country he said this was the result of our intolerance and cynicism. Best way to end terrorism is to change present mindset in the society. Instead of criticizing others one should pledge to be responsible, honest, law abiding citizen, he added. He further said over a period intolerance in our society has increased and that had caused hatred against each other.

There is dire need we should promote brotherhood and do our responsibility with sincerity, he stressed.  He said, “Today we remember and honor those who fought for Pakistan’s independence and pay tributes to soldiers and security personnel for their sacrifices in fight against terrorism”, He concluded his address by conveying his warm wishes for happiness and prosperity of the country and its people.

Earlier female students presented national songs and amused the participants of the event. District Social Welfare Officer Atif Warraich conducted the function as stage secretary.

While inviting a Christian student to present a national song, he said our national flag has two colors – green and white. White represent minorities and red is for Muslim majority, He said without minorities Pakistan is incomplete.

He paid tributes to minorities for their contributions in development of the country.  Participants included members of civil society, notables of the area, ex-servicemen and lawyers.
