All surgeons, doctors and paramedical staff are save of Congo virus : MS, BVH Dr. Shahid Faraz

Lahore : Medical Superintendent, Bahawal Victoria Hospital, Dr. Shahid Faraz has claimed that the pathological test to determine the Congo virus have been declared satisfactory of all surgeons, doctors and paramedical staff of surgical wards of Bahawal Victoria Hospital, Bahawalpur. Besides, special medical measures have been taken to conduct clinical tests of blood screening of all doctors and paramedics regarding Congo virus.Medical Superintendent, Bahawal Victoria Hospital, Dr. Shahid Faraz

This was stated by MS BVH Dr. Shahid Faraz in a press briefing here on Saturday. Special arrangements have been made regarding blood screening of under medical observation professor Dr. Gulzar Malik, his son and six other patients who would be discharge from hospital as the profile of blood platelets attains normalcy, MS BVH Dr.Shahid Faraz maintained.

He further said that the fumigation of emergency operation theater No.1 has already been conducted and it would remain shut down for a period of 16 days which is the estimated life cycle of the Congo virus.

Special medical teams of Doctors of GHQ and WHO's medical experts would extend their medical expertise to BVH doctors to ensure close screening and monitoring to wipe out the prevalence of Congo virus.

MS BVH Dr. Shahid Faraz said that medical experts have conducted their medical inquiry which has established that the cause of death of late nurse Nadia was the transmission of Congo virus from the animals of her house.

MS Dr. Shahid Faraz expressed deep sorrow over the sad demise of Dr. Sagheer and paid rich tribute to his glorious services. He assured that government would bear all expenditure regarding the medical treatment of Dr. Awais who is under treatment at Agha Khan Hospital.

Meanwhile ; Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has expressed deep sense of sorrow and grief over the death of a doctor and nurse due to Congo virus in Bahawalpur.

Taking notice of the incident, the Chief Minister sought a report from Secretary Health and Secretary Livestock.

Shahbaz Sharif directed that all out steps should be taken for protection against Congo virus. He said that complete implementation of the procedure evolved in this regard should be ensured. Besides taking precautionary measures for protection against Congo virus, public awareness campaign should also be launched in this regard, he added.

The Chief Minister further directed that work of screening of animals should be conducted on emergent basis.
