Lahore : Governor Punjab Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana has lauded the role of business community in the national development and called for increased economic activity to generate jobs and revenue.
He said that government is aware of the problems of the business community including those surfaced recently which would be resolved within days.
Speaking at a reception hosted in his honour at the residence of President FPCCI Abdul Rauf Alam, Muhammad Rafique Rajwana said that private sector is engine of the growth which will be given all the facilities.
Governor Punjab said that government has achieved a lot since it came to power which is also acknowledged by dozens of international institutions.
Pakistan has embarked on the path of high growth economy and was heading towards a bright future with the help of friendly policies and unprecedented support of the Chinese government.
Mr Rajwana said that government has achieved almost all of the objectives while successfully meeting the challenge of extremism, terrorism and the chronic energy shortages.
Load shedding has been reduced while 3600 megawatt would be added in the system through three modern LNG power plants being completed in Punjab, he said.
The Governor said that difficult decisions are being taken in the larger national interest while massive investment was pouring in the energy sector and that top government functionaries would be informed about reservations of the business community over certain matters.
He informed that Tarbela is being upgraded, work on Dasu dam is in full swing and said country’s energy sector was growing robust with each passing day.
He said the projects would enable the country to meet its energy needs for the next decade and expressed his optimism that load shedding would end soon.
At the occasion, Abdul Rauf Alam said that exporters cannot compete with rivals unless they are facilitated. He also informed the governor about problems of business community and sought his help.
