Lahore : Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that we are proud of teachers equipping the children of the nation with education through hard work. Lady teachers extending financial assistance to position holder girls of labourers in their education deserve all respect, he added.
Shahbaz Sharif said that we salute such teachers. Minarets of development are meaningless without promotion of education, he added. He said that young generation will have to be equipped with modern knowledge for putting the country on the road to progress and prosperity. No hurdle can be created in the way of development if work is carried out with enthusiasm, he added.
He said that elements staging sit-in should give up such practices and help in promoting talent. He said that these elements should improve education and health facilities in their province. He said that time of the nation should not be wasted through sit-ins. He expressed these views while addressing a ceremony to give prize to the teachers of position holder children of labourers in matriculation examinations at Model Town, here today.
The Chief Minister gave cheque of one lakh rupees and laptop each to head teacher Shahida Saeed of Government Girls High School Haroonabad and teacher Aneela Masood of Government Girls High School Sharifpura Multan while announced one lakh rupees for sister of position holder girl student Samia Mujahid for assisting her in acquiring education.
Shahbaz Sharif said that the ceremony was of great importance for him as those teachers have come who are respectable for all of us. He said that Iqra Bibi acquiring third position in Bahawalpur Board and a girl student Samia Mujahid are also present in the ceremony. He said that the mother of Iqra Bibi was unable to bear the educational expenditure of her daughter due to shortage of resources but a kindhearted headmistress Shahida Saeed supported Iqra financially.
Similarly, the father of Samia Mujahid is a tailor and she was also facing financial difficulties. A kindhearted teacher Samia Mujahid of Government Girls High School Sharifpura Multan encouraged and supported her to achieve this status.
The Chief Minister thanked Mohtarma Shahida Saeed and Aneela Masood teacher of Samia Mujahid on behalf of Punjab government and on his own behalf who supported these girls to move forward. He said that these teachers providing help and guidance to the girls of resource-less families in education are pride of the nation. Due to these teachers, the girls having limited resources have been encouraged to continue their study, he added.
He said that the teachers equipping the children of the nation with education are builders of the nation in the real sense. He said that teachers should perform their duties of training and educating the youth enthusiastically. He said that those staging sit-ins destroyed national economy and created hurdles in the way of development but now Pakistan will have to be made a prosperous country.
Replying to the questions of mediamen, Shahbaz Sharif said that those committing corruption talk of accountability but the nation will not tolerate such jokes.
Replying to another question, he said that PML-N got marvelous success in Azad Kashmir despite the politics of allegations and negative tactics. He said that the decision of people of Azad Kashmir is reflective of collective approach of the nation.
Answering another question, the Chief Minister said that he is ready to support those staging sit-ins for the improvement of education and other facilities. But they want to stage sit-ins for delaying electricity projects, he added. He said that these elements want to increase the miseries of the nation.
The Chief Minister said that progress and prosperity is right of the nation and the nation will not allow anyone to stop this process.
Provincial Minister Higher Education Begum Zakia Shahnawaz, Parliamentary Secretary Higher Education, Parliamentary Secretary Schools Education, Secretary Schools, Secretary Information and concerned authorities were also present on the occasion.
