Lahore : the directions of Chief Minister Punjab Anti Dengue Day walk was observed in the province to create awareness among the masses against the disease and to sensitize them regarding the precautionary measures to check the dengue breading. Secretary Primary and Secondary Health Department Ali Jan Khan led a walk arranged by the department.
The walk was started from Directorate General Health Services and ended at Punjab Assembly building. DG Health Dr. Mukhtar Hussain Sayed, Additional Director General Dengue Control Dr. Fayyaz Butt, Director Health Non-Communicable Disease Control Dr. Haroon Jehangir Khan, officials and nursing students participated in the walk. They were displaying play cards on which anti-dengue slogans and precautionary measures against dengue were mentioned.
Ali Jan Khan also distributed pamphlets, among the pedestrians and bickers. Talking to the media persons, Secretary P&SH said that coordinated efforts by the Government departments and the community is essential to control dengue. He said that dengue becomes a health and social problems as well as. Therefore, community participation in anti-dengue measures is inevitable. He said that removal of the stagnant water and cleanliness is the basic requirements to check the dengue breading. While replying to a question, Ali Jan Khan said that at present no dengue patient is under treatment in any hospital in Punjab. However, complete arrangements for the treatment of such patients is available in all public sector hospitals. He said that due to the rains, the next two to three months will be the peak season of dengue. Therefore, vigorous effort by the government departments and the community is more significant.
Meanwhile, anti-dengue walk was also arranged in Sir Ganga Ram Hospital where medical superintendent Dr. Nouman Maqbool led the walk a large number of doctors and officials of the hospital participated in the awareness walk.
Similarly, an awareness against dengue was held in Lady Aitchison Hospital Dr. Samina Medical Superintendent led the walk and distributed pamphlets among the patients and their attendants. Moreover, awareness walk against dengue was organized in the Directorate of Internal Audit Health Department Huma Block, Allama Iqbal Town.
Director Internal Audit Wing Sarfraz Ahmed informed that the officers and the staff of the department participated in the walk. The participants visited door to door in Huma Block and sensitized the residents regarding the measures to remove the dengue hot spots from their houses and to protect themselves from mosquitoes bites.
An awareness walk was arranged from head office to MAO College, led by Director General Wildlife Khalid Ayaz Khan. All officers of head office including Deputy Director Wildlife Headquarter Muhammad Naeem Bhatti, Deputy Director Wildlife (Publicity & Research) Aamir Masaud, Deputy Director Wildlife Lahore Region Zahid Iqbal Sheikh, Assistant Director Wildlife Planning Mazhar Imtiaz, Assistant Director Wildlife Lahore Region Abdul Shakoor Manj, District Wildlife Officer Lahore Javed Awan, Chief Draftsman Shahid Iqbal, President APCA Unit Muzammil Hussain and other officials of the department also participated in the walk. Participants were holding banners and posters during the walk.
Director General Wildlife & Parks Khalid Ayaz Khan, while talking to media men on this occasion, said that main purpose of Anti Dengue Day is to create awareness among masses about their responsibilities to defeat dengue by adopting precautionary measures to curb dengue. He said that all officers of the department have been directed to ensure cleanliness in their offices and stores and make special arrangements in this regard.
Later, Director General Wildlife visited all branches of head office and inspected arrangements of cleanliness and passed on further directions to the officers on the spot.
