Lahore : Acting Ameer of the Jamaat e Islami, Liaqat Baloch, has said that the leadership of the PTI and the PPP had not consulted JI and other opposition parties for filing a reference for the Prime Minister’s disqualification and had taken the decision on their own.
Speaking at an Iftar dinner hosted in his honour in the city on Saturday, he said that it had been the unanimous demand of the opposition parties that an autonomous judicial commission be set up for indiscriminate accountability of the corrupt elements. He said that the PPP and the PTI had not consulted the joint opposition before filing a reference for the disqualification of the Prime Minister although it was necessary that all opposition parties were consulted and an agreed decision was adopted.
Liaqat Baloch said that the Corruption Free Pakistan movement of the JI was continuing as the accountability of the corrupt elements whether in the ruling party or the opposition or state institutions was inevitable. He said that the cancer of corruption had spilled over the government and spread over in the entire society. He said that a stage had come when laws were framed to protect corruption instead of weeding it out.
However, he said that the entire nation from Karachi to Khyber was in protest against corruption and nobody would be able to protect the evildoer nor would the courts come under pressure from the corrupt.
Expressing his satisfaction over India’s failure in getting NSG membership, the JI acting chief said that timely move by China and some other countries had foiled the US bid to disturb the balance of power in South Asia. He said that China had proved herself a great visionary and Pakistan’s trusted friend by obstructing India’s supremacy in the region. He said that now the Pakistan government should present its case before the world community on strong footings so that home work to foil such future efforts by US and India was also completed.
Commenting on the verdict of the British people in the referendum to quit the European Union, the JI acting chief said this had put a question mark on the future of the EU itself. He said the exit of Britain from the EU would have long term consequences.
He said that British people had taken a highly decision. Britain was a close ally and a strategic partner of the US. He said the US had humbled the emerging power of the EU. He said that several more changes were expected in Europe. He appealed to the world community to also help in seeking solution of the Kashmir issue.
