Tertiary Care Hospital in Gujranwala would be completed by the end of 2017

Tertiary Care Hospital in GujranwalaLahore : Provision of best healthcare facilities to the people of Punjab is the top most priority of the government for which state-of-the-art hospitals equipped with all latest facilities are being constructed in the province and construction of 500-bed Tertiary Care Hospital in Gujranwala is also a part of this policy which would cost Rs. 3.9 billion.

It is stated by the Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab on Health Khawaja Salman Rafiq while visiting under construction 500-bed Tertiary Care Hospital in Gujranwala.

Secretary Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education (SH&ME) Najam Ahmad Shah was also accompanied the advisor. Principal Gujranwala Medical College Prof. Aftab Mohsin briefed the Advisor about the under construction project. Prof. Aftab Mohsin informed that the under construction hospital would be a 6-story building consisting on 3-blocks and the total covered area would be 3 lakh 60 thousand square feet.

He told that the total area of the hospital consisting on 6 acres. Moreover, a separate complex of operation theaters is the part of the plan which would be consisting on 10 operation theaters. He informed that the hospital would provide all tertiary care medical facilities including paeds medicines, paeds surgery, general surgery, medicines, ENT, ophthalmology, pathology labs, all diagnostic facilities, organ transplant, cardiac unit, ICU, CCU and dialysis facilities for kidney patients.

Secretary SH&ME Najam Ahmad Shah directed to faster the construction work on the project so it could be completed by the end of next year. He assured that government would provide required funds for this purpose. It was informed that Rs. 1.4 billion would be spent on civil work while medical equipments and other diagnostic machineries worth Rs. 1.7 billion would be procured for the hospital.

Khawaja Salman Raffique said that Gujranwala tertiary Hospital would be another milestone in providing latest health facilities for the people of Punjab. He said that after completion of this hospital, latest tertiary care facilities would be available for people of Gujranwala Division and rest of the area, which would be helpful to reduce the work load of tertiary care hospitals of Lahore.
