PEMRA to stop coverage of rallies and protest at Mall Road : DCO Lahore

Lahore:  District Coordination Officer ,Lahore Capt(R) Muhammad Usman has asked PEMRA to direct media houses to stop the coverage of rallies and protest at Mall Road .

In a letter to Chairman PEMRA,DCO Lahore said that Home Department has banned rallies and protest at Mall Road in the light of LHC orders and by laws have been framed in this regard but for the last few days,protest and rallies were being held at the Mall without the permission of the CDGL which was against the law. These protest and procession could only be discouraged if these protest would not be covered by the media.

It would be important to mention here that a few days back, spokesman Punjab Government Zaeem Qadri has called a meeting of media houses representatives at DGPR and asked them to stop coverage of the protest and procession being held at The Mall but most of the Bureau Chiefs gave him a shut up call and said they will cover the protest when it would be held at Mall Road,the government was strong enough to stop the processions as the Punjab government act what it think,when they decided to stop protest at The Mall they certainly would manage it,Javaid Farooqi , a bureau chief remarked in the meeting.
