Lahore: A total sum of Rs. 5 million has been recovered on account of sales tax from different housing societies and restaurants in Bahawalpur division. This operation of sales tax recovery was supervised by Additional Commissioner income tax Zeeshan Nazir Khan.
Under the direction of Chairman Punjab Revenue authority Rahil Ahmad Siddiqui a vigorous, vibrant and sustained campaign to check the record of various restaurants and housing societies has been launched in Bahawalpur Division.
In this campaign the relevant documents pertaining to sales and other taxes a thorough scrutiny of these business enterprises was conducted. Those restaurants and housing societies whose tax documents were scrutinized include: – Bahawalpur: – Diamond Heights hotel; Mirch Masalah Restaurant; Taj Palace hotel; Paradise hotel; Golden Palace motel; Aden hotel; New Pakistan hotel and Asia hotel; Ahmadpur Sharqia: – Food Club Restaurant; Wasaib hotel and Khayaban Doud housing society; Rahim Yar Khan: – Shalimar garden housing scheme and Iqbal garden land housing scheme; Sadiqabad: – Cafe Sajawal; Midway hotel and Ghulam Nabi Restaurant.
All these enterprises were sealed for violating the rules of Punjab Revenue authority in paying their taxes but later on after clearing their outstanding these enterprises were de-sealed and allowed to resume their business activities.
Additional Commissioner Zeeshan Nazir Khan maintained that Punjab Revenue Authority was committed to promote tax culture by mobilizing all available resources which would lead to stable and solid tax base in Punjab.
