Lahore: With a view to overcome the shortage of various specialities/ sub-specialities in health sector and to improve the quality of medical education, Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Department, Punjab has changed the criteria for the induction of doctors in postgraduate classes. Now, these admissions would be made through Central Entry Test on the basis of educational qualification in a transparent way. This is a revolutionary step in the health sector.
It was revealed by the Secretary Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Punjab Najam Ahmad Shah, here today. He said that a rationalized central induction policy for the doctors has been prepared to overcome the shortage of specialist doctors in different specialities. He said that the induction of doctors in post-graduation would be through centralized entry tests. He informed that the department has sought online applications from the doctors on which more than 1200 candidates have been applied. Najam Ahmad Shah said that entry tests for the admission in postgraduate classes for the doctors is going to be held on May 28(Saturday) in the University of Health Sciences and King Edward Medical University simultaneously. A joint admission committee headed by the Vice Chancellor KEMU would monitor the entry test, he added.
