Lahore: Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq, has said that drone attacks were an attack on the country’s sovereignty but the rulers’ attitude on these was most shameful. He was addressing the supreme council of the Milli Yakjehti Council (MYC) at Al-Mark al- Islami Peshawar on Tuesday morning.
Sirajul Haq said the territorial and ideological borders of the country were not secure in the presence of the present rulers. He said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had stated that he had been informed of the drone attack afterwards which was really shameful. This implied that the enemy had reached our Drawing Room but the rulers were unconcerned. If, God forbid, some foreign army attacked this country, these rulers would be quite comfortable with them as well, he added.
The JI chief said that it was mainly due to corruption of rulers that the country’s economy was being controlled by the IMF and the World Bank which attached some new precondition at the time of issuing fresh cache of loan. He said the goal of an Islamic and welfare state could not be achieved in the presence of the present rulers.
Sirajul Haq said that according to a survey carried out by FAFEN, 97 per cent of the people in the country wanted the enforcement of an Islamic system. He said the Ulema were a big force but they must unite to defeat the enemy designs. He said the masses had given their verdict and now it was a test of the religious forces to capitalize on the situation.
He said the 1973 constitution was a great helping factor in the enforcement of Islamic system as against secularism.
He said if the religious forces were successful in enforcing the Islamic provisions only for a single term, a majority of those sitting in assemblies at present would be in jail and the doors of the assemblies would be open for the general public.
