Pakistan is rich in cultural heritage : Governor Punjab Rafiq Rajwana

Governor Punjab Malik Muhammad Rafiq Rajwana 1 Governor Punjab Malik Muhammad Rafiq RajwanaLahore: Governor Punjab Malik Muhammad Rafiq Rajwana, has said that Pakistan is rich in cultural heritage and it is need of hour that teachings of the Saints and philosophy of intellectuals should be promoted for creating sentiments of love, peace and tranquility.

He expressed these views at Punjab House, Islamabad on Tuesday while talking to the delegation members of Archaeological & Historical Association of Pakistan led by its Chairman renowned intellectual Dr. Ghazanfar Mehdi.

Governor Punjab said that cultural heritage is being preserved in the entire world and Pakistan has also many world reputed historical and cultural importance places especially in Northern areas which need to be developed for promotion of tourism. He also mentioned the role of Historians and Archaeologists for dissemination of knowledge and awareness to the young generation about the importance of these places.

Malik Muhammad Rafiq Rajwana asked members of Archaeological & Historical Association to prepare guidelines for protection, repair and preservation of national importance sites located in different parts of Pakistan. He said that government would adopt all possible measures to extended assistance for preservation of historical places. Governor Punjab admire the contributions and keen interest of the Association Members who had devoted themselves for rehabilitation and protection of the shrines for saints by conducting various kind of activities and assured all possible assistance in this regard.

Dr Ghazanar Mehdi briefed on the occasion about the activities of Association and said that diplomats and Archeology loving personality are associated with Association and a number of “Carwans” had been conducted for famous sites.

The delegation members include renowned historians, writers, intellectuals Vice Chancellor Pristine University Abdul Basit, Professor Dr. Riaz Ahmed, Gill Rahat Iftikhar, Rachael Chen Public Affairs Officer US. Consulate General Lahore, Hassan Qazi, Alhaj Muhammad Iqbal Khan, Mukhtar Hussain Talpur, Subtain Raza Lodhi, Jameel Bhatti, Nayer Sarhadi, Ali Mehdi, Aasia  Chaudhry, Syed Ehsan Shah, Muhammad Asim , Saaghir Abbas Hamdani, and Rukhsana Nazi presented various suggestions and proposals to  the Governor Punjab for future plans. Rukhsana Nazi and Dr. Riaz Ahmed presented their books to Governor Punjab on the occasion.
