Lahore: Institute of Business Management (IoBM) and Institute of Cost and Management Accountants (ICMA), Pakistan signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation in Research,Development, and Innovation on May 11, 2016 at the Entrepreneurship & Management Excellence Center (EMEC), IoBM, according to IoBM Public Affairs Section.
This MoU was signed by Mr. Talib Karim Rector & Executive Director: Corporate Affairs,Entrepreneurship & Management, IoBM, and Mr. Muhammad Kamran Jamil, Executive Director (Acting) and Director Research & Publications, ICMA, Pakistan. The ceremony was largely attended by IoBM Deans, HoDs and faculty members. An informative presentation on ICMA was delivered on this occasion.
Talib Karim thanked ICMA guests for their visit to IoBM and said that the two institutions will formally collaborate in joint projects in research, development and innovation and avail of the opportunities both institutions offer for students and faculty. He added that IoBM would soon name a resource person to coordinate with ICMA and IoBM also looks forward for ICMA’s resource person in this regard. He asserted that although the signing of MoUs were important, what remains vital is the
practical implementation of MoUs.
Muhammad Kamran Jamil of ICMA emphasized upon the need to synergize in research and development at the national and global levels and believed that both IoBM and ICMA would play a positive role in this regard. He added that while ICMA was already involved in research and budgetary proposals for the Government of Pakistan, it needed to do more in collaboration with such reputed institutions as IoBM in business management, research and development.
He said that IoBM and ICMA can practically implement this MoU by jointly utilizing each other’s infrastructural and library facilities as well as mutual collaboration between students and faculty.
Dr. Irfan Hyder, Dean IoBM, said that it is the vision of IoBM to cooperate with national and international organizations and those institutions fostering linkages with the industry for hands-on training and experience. He cited a couple of examples in which both IoBM and ICMA can collaborate as cost effective projects in energy and textiles. He said that IoBM was effectively collaborating on a Capstone Project with Pak-China Holding Company in this regard.
