Lahore: Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq, has reiterated that the process of accountability should begin with the Prime Minister and his family.
Addressing a public meeting at Lower Dir on Tuesday, he said that the Prime Minister should justify the wealth of his sons abroad.
Sirajul Haq said that certain elements were proposing that the entire corruption so far should be ignored. However, he said this won’t do and those plundering even small amounts of public money would have to face the wrath.
He said that if Prime Minister’s suggestion to begin accountability from 1947 was accepted, Nawaz Sharif’s turn won’t come even till the Doomsday.
He said that after the execution of Shaheed Mumtaz Qadri, slogans of “Nawaz Sharif Murda Bad”, had been raised at the Prophet’s Mosque and no one could salvage him now.
He said the ruling junta made a mockery of Islam and the law. He pointed out that Mumtaz Qadri was executed for killing a blasphemer whereas a CIA operative who murdered two citizens in the Punjab capital in broad day light was sent home with honour.
Sirajul Haq said that the US envoy in the country was free to address students of universities although he was advising the youth to drop the word Muhammad from their names because the US computers did not accept such names. On the other hand, he said, that Maulana Tariq Jamil was not allowed to deliver sermons to the students. He said he had written a letter to the Tablighee Jamat head Haji Abdul Wahab assuring him that the JI would chop off the hands raised against at the Tableeghi jamaat.
The JI chief said he was surprised to know the assets of the politicians submitted to the Election Commission and pointed out that the ruling people owned palaces valuing around 600 million each in different cities and towns. He said he too had been a member of the provincial cabinet twice but when he left the office, he did not own even a motor car.
Sirajul Haq reiterated JI revolutionary agenda and expressed the hope that the people of the area would support him and the JI in its plan. He said the JI had already begun campaign against corruption and was sure that this campaign would be successful.
JI deputy chief Mian Muhammad Aslam, provincial chief Mushtaq Ahmed Khan and the MNAs and MPAs of the area were also present.
