Siraj ul Haq lauds PM Nawaz Sharif’s decision to form Judicial Commission

Siraj ul HaqLahore: Ameer,Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq, has said that Prime Minister’s announcement for writing to the Chief Justice for setting up a enquiry commission was a step in the right direction although it was much delayed, but it was the victory of the nation.

Giving his reaction to the PM’s address to the nation on Friday, he however said that the terms of reference (ToR) of the Commission should be decided with a complete agreement with the Opposition so that the doors of corruption could be closed for ever.

The JI chief said that the bitterness in the PM’s address was misplaced as the allegations in the Panama leaks had not been leveled by the Opposition but were in fact an international disclosure. He said that there was a tradition of voluntary resignations in the wake of such allegations but the Prime Minister had not opted that way.

He said that the crisis should be resolved within the minimum time so that the time of the nation was not wasted.

Earlier, while addressing a ceremony at Gujranwala, the JI chief said that Army Chief’s action against corrupt officers was a clear message to the government that if he could punish corrupt elements, why could not the rulers do the same. He was talking to the media after a ceremony at Gujranwala on Friday.

Sirajul Haq said that those who had plundered billions of a poor nation, could not be pardoned at all. He said that the rulers’ interests lay entirely outside the country and they came to Pakistan only to govern.

He said that it was time that we tried to leave for our coming generations a corruption free and developed Pakistan and evolved a system wherein even the one involved in the misappropriation of a single penny was punished and the penny was recovered from him. He wondered who had authorized the NAB to write off billions by accepting plea bargains.

Meanwhile; Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq, has suggested that the Opposition should write to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to constitute a commission for an enquiry into the Panama leaks in particular and corruption in general.

He made this suggestion during a telephone call with the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Syed Khurshid Shah, on Friday. The Opposition Leader had rang up the JI chief to discuss the latest situation in the country.

Sirajul Haq said that the nation had full confidence in the Supreme Court and it was imperative that the Chief Justice was requested to head a Commission which not only probed into the information divulged by the Panama leaks but also the plunder of the public wealth by different people and its transfer abroad. The Commission should also suggest measures for bringing the trillions of the public money lying abroad back to the country, he added.
