Punjab University clinches third HEC inter-varsity Jujitsu championship

Punjab University clinches third HEC inter-varsity Jujitsu championshipLahore: Punjab University Women’s Team has clinched first position in the 3rd Higher Education Commission Jujitsu Championship 2015-16 while showing outstanding performance in the competition.

The PU team won the championship by scoring 170 points while Lahore College for Women’s University scored 80 points and Imperial College of Business Studies Lahore scored 59 points and secured 2nd and 3rd position respectively.

The prize distribution ceremony was held at New Gymnasium of Punjab University in which Principal University Law College Prof Dr Shazia Naureen Qureshi participated as chief guest. Director Sports Shamsa Hashmi, President Jujitsu Federation Pakistan Khalil Ahmed Khan, officials and a large number of players were also present on the occasion.Punjab University clinches third HEC inter-varsity Jujitsu championship

Addressing the ceremony, Dr Shazia Qureshi said that despite lack of facilities, females had shown outstanding performances in the Jujitsu championship and it was a matter of pride not only for the parents, teachers and coaches but for the nation as well. She said that this was just a beginning and our women must excel in the world through hard work. She congratulated the winning students and distributed prizes among the winning teams.

Teams including Punjab University, Iqra University Karachi, Agricultural University Faisalabad, GC University Faisalabad, LCWU, Islamia University Bahawalpur and Imperial College of Business Studies Lahore participated in the event
