Lahore: A high level meeting of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Monday decided to take the parliamentary leaders of the political parties into confidence on the formation and other relevant matters vis-a-vis the proposed inquiry commission into Panama leaks before taking any final decision.
On directives of Prime Minister, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, the meeting was held here at the PM House under the chairmanship of Finance Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, said a press release.
Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervaiz Rasheed, Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafiq, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Commerce Minister Khurram Dastgir, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Law Minister Zahid Hamid, Minister for SAFRON Abdul Qadir Baloch, Adviser to PM Irfan Siddiqui, Senator Mushahid Ullah and Minister of State for IT Anusha Rehman attended the meeting that discussed the inquiry commission and its mandate.
The meeting stressed to ensure execution of development projects more swiftly and foil the designs for bringing political instability in the country.
The participants of the high level meeting also emphasized that the efforts for restoration of law and order, deliverance from energy crisis and China Pakistan Economic Corridor and other infrastructural projects should continue with the similar pace.
The meeting also mulled over some legal points for their onward incorporation into electoral reforms to ensure transparency in the electoral process.
Meanwhile, Parliamentary Committee on Electoral Reforms (PCER) here on Monday unanimously
recommended to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) that to display back the details of the assets of parliamentarians on its website.
Headed by Finance Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar the 15th meeting of the Parliamentary Committee said that in the interest of transparency the assets details of the parliamentarians be posted back on the website at the earliest.
The meeting took note of the matter regarding removal of Parliamentarians’ assets details from Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) website.
The Secretary ECP informed the Committee that the Commission had observed that posting of such details was not required by the law.
The Committee also took note of the difficulties being faced by public due to blocking of their computerized national identity cards (CNICs) for various reasons. They appointed a Sub-Committee under the chairmanship of Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao, MNA to examine all complaints relating to blocked CNICs with a view to ensuring that these are regularized as early as possible.
The Sub-Committee would present its report to the main Committee within a month.
