Lahore: In connection with the celebrations of “Tax Day” across Punjab, Punjab Revenue Authority in collaboration with Government College University, Lahore arranged a declamation contest to kick start the Tax Day celebrations on the topics of “Taxes are the price of civilization” and “Hum tax kyun dein?”
Minister for Excise & Taxation Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman and Dr. Parvez Hassan were the chief guests at the occasion. Besides others, the event was also attended by the Chairperson PRA , Dr. Raheal Ahmad Siddiqui and other senior officers.
Debaters from different educational institutions including GCU, UET, Kinnaird College, Lahore and Lahore College for Women University had a robust discussion about the need for paying taxes which provided a fair representation of how today’s youth perceives the taxes.
In addition to the participating debaters, the guests also argued on the taxation system and steps being taken to ensure transparency and non-discriminatory implementation of the taxation system. At the conclusion of the competition, prizes and certificates were distributed amongst the winners of the competition.
