Lahore: Capital City Police Officer Capt (r) Muhammad Amin Wains has said that collective efforts are required to change the mindset to wipe out the menace of terrorism from the country and killing innocent people was strictly prohibited in Islam. He was addressing a security seminar organized by Punjab University at Faisal Auditorium here on Wednesday.
PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran, Registrar Prof Dr Liaqat Ali, Resident Officer 1 Prof Dr Sajid Rashid, Director Students Affairs Shahid Gul, SSP Investigation Hassan Sukhera, SP Iqbal Town Dr Muhammad Iqbal, Academic Staff Association leaders, senior faculty members, employees and a large number of students were present on the occasion.
Sensitizing the audience on security, he said that the martyrs of Gulshan Iqbal tragedy were above any religion or sect and they were innocent people. He said that Punjab police was making all out efforts and offering sacrifices to protect life and property of the people. He said that we were launching a movement in the historic Faisal Auditorium wherein a force would be formed to collect information about the people living in the surroundings of the university with the help of volunteers and law enforcement agencies.
He advised the participants to remain vigilant and instantly inform law enforcing agencies whenever they see any suspected activity. He said that public safety committees had also been formed at small areas level and one coordinator had been designated for 100 houses.
PU VC Dr Mujahid Kamran said that terrorism could not be root out without collective efforts. ASA President and RO1 Prof Dr Sajid Rashid said that PU teachers, employees and students were standing with forces in fight against terrorism and were ready for any cooperation.
