Lahore: Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has planned to collect teachers’ monthly salary certificates from its school partners. The partnering schools would also confirm that teachers are genuine school employees, and not relatives.
This was decided in a meeting of program directors which held on Wednesday at the head office with MD PEF Tariq Mahmood in the chair. The meeting held a detailed review of different programs’ expansion including teachers’ salaries. The meeting noted that PEF has already implemented a well- designed teachers training mechanism to sufficiently improve their professional capacities to give quality education in conducive atmosphere.
The meeting was apprised that Rs. 100 raise was made in student’s monthly fee by the PEF last year. It was, then, directed to the partner schools that half of the additional income would be used for increasing their teachers’ salaries so that they may feel encouraged. The meeting proposed that teachers’ salaries should be given by schools through the bank accounts. The meeting further proposed that schools should also state increase in teachers’ salary after the previous increase i.e. Oct. 2015 to March 2016.
The meeting decided that no compromise would be made about fake students, money charging, fake enrolment or any other violation of partnership agreement including impersonation in quality assurance tests. It would be a good deterrence in controlling any malpractice in future, the meeting noted. It was noted that PEF has introduced effective monitoring and evaluation mechanism at the grassroots. These M&Es are very useful in keeping continued check on the schooling partners in their areas.
It was also agreed upon that students pictures and relevant data should be included in attendance sheet used in quality assurance tests to nip any chances of masquerade. The meeting observed that partnership of schools having fake registration should be cancelled and cancellation process should be initiated against the partners failing to provide their certificates within stipulated period of time.
MD PEF directed that blood relatives including maternal, paternal uncles and grandfathers should be recorded as guardians of parents less students in schools record. PEF would keep high standards of transparency, efficiency and quality in its gratis education programs, besides proactively working to make ‘Parho Punjab, Barho Punjab’ a success, concluded the MD.
