Lahore: In order to make the working of the office of Punjab Ombudsman transparent and to give the right of access to information to the masses, Ombudsman Punjab Javaid Mehmood, has made several decisions under which the citizens of Pakistan would now be able to get the certified copies of all the decisions made by the Ombudsman Punjab, complaints lodged with the Ombudsman Office and the replies submitted by various government departments.
The Punjab Ombudsman under The Punjab Ombudsman Act, are already being provided to the parties i.e. complainants and the relevant government Departments.
Following the Punjab Transparency and Access to Information Act 2013, there is no justification to keep the decision made by the Ombudsman Punjab and the complaints lodged with the same, secret.
In order to ensure transparency and to give the citizens access to all the decisions made by the Ombudsman Punjab, public complaints and the documents submitted on the part of various government departments, the Ombudsman Punjab has decided to give access to the same.
The Punjab Ombudsman made it clear that the citizens got the lawful right of access to information of all the government bodies of the province. He said that now no citizen needs to come to Lahore to get a copy of the Ombudsman’s decision or other relevant documents rather the citizens would be able to get a certified copy through a written request to the Registrar Ombudsman or Advisers to Ombudsman Punjab in the their relevant districts.
The Ombudsman Punjab has issued special directions to the Registrar and the Advisers to the Ombudsman Punjab in all districts in this regard.
