Lahore: Inter Services Public Relations Director General (DG) Lt Gen Asim Saleem Bajwa Tuesday said the capture of a serving Indian Navy officer working as agent of Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) was a big success and proof of Indian involvement in sponsoring terrorism in Pakistan, especially in Balochistan and Karachi.
Kulbhushan Yadav was a serving Indian naval officer and his primary mission was to carry out terrorism in Karachi and Balochistan, he said while addressing a joint press conference along with Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Pervaiz Rashid.
Lt Gen Bajwa said Kulbhushan’s arrest was a rare case. Such a case did not happen very often. The arrest of a senior serving officer engaged in performing spy missions was also a rare case, he added.
The detained Indian spy, he said, had himself confessed that there was RAW’s involvement in Balochistan, which was nothing short of state-sponsored terrorism by India. “We have irrefutable evidence to prove that Yadav is serving Indian naval officer.”
The ISPR DG said Kulbhushan, who pretended to be a converted Muslim, was working at the coastal city of Gadani in Balochistan under the cover of a scrap dealer. Kulbhushan was caught red-handed by the country’s prestigious intelligence agency – Inter Services Intelligence (ISI), which is well
known across the world for its professional working.
The press conference started with a six-mintue voluntary confessional video statement of the nabbed RAW agent. After getting prepared his doccuments, Kulbhushan shifted form India to Chah Bihar in Iran a long ago and established a base there.
In the meantime he used to visit Pakistan and lure Baloch students to carry out anti-national and other destabilizing activities by offering huge funding. Installations in coastal areas of Gawadar, Pasni, Jevani and other places in Balochistan were the target of the agent.
The aim of RAW officer was to disrupt future projects under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the ISPR DG said.
Lt Gen Bajwa said Yadav was either involved or had information about many terror acts, including Mehran Base attack, bomb blast in Gawadar, SSP Aslam Chauhadry’s murder, Tiger Force’s constitution and Baloch nationalists’ terrorist activities. He was given the task to attack a five-star hotel in Gwadar where Chinese national were used to stay, he said.
Bajwa said Kulbhushan, who was working as a jeweller, was responsible for infiltration of 30 to 40 new RAW agents in to Pakistan. He was caught with maps and three different currencies.
Answering a question regarding Iran’s spy agency for facilitating the Indian agent to reach Pakistan, the ISPR DG said it was never stated that the Iranian Intelligence or government were involved in
that operation. “I cannot claim Iran is involved but if their soil is used then we request them not to allow such activities. Iran has seconded our request that she will not let it happen.”
“Pakistan and Iran have been in communication at intelligence agencies’ level and we have been sharing information with Iran.”
Referring to the meeting of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, he stated the COAS had referred the matter saying Iran should not let India to use her territory for subversive activties (against Pakistan).
The matter of fortifying the Pak-Iran border was also discussed in the meeting, he added.
Replying to another question, the ISPR DG said intelligence-based operations were being carried out in parts of the country and especially after the Lahore blast, five operations were carried out jointly by
intelligence agencies, Pakistan Army and Rangers.
Even at this very moment of the press conference, operations were continuing in and around Rawalpindi and Multan, he added. “Wherever there are terrorists, there will be an army operation,”he said.
