Lahore: Asian Youth Tripple Gold Medalist & Silver Medalist of Commonwealth Youth Games 2015, Abdur Rehman created 5 new Junior National Records altogether in 85 Kg Category of
7th Youth & Junior National Weightlifting Championships,2016.
Commonwealth and South Asian Gold Medalist Muhammad Nooh Dastgir Butt also created (2 new Junior and 2 new Senior National Records) in over 105 Kg category and lifted the heaviest weight ever in Pakistan 206 Kg in clean +Jerk event.
Commonwealth Youth Games 2015 Silver Medalist Talha Talib also created 1 new youth National Records in 62 Kg Category and Muhammad Saqib created a new youth National record in 85 Kg category.
120 weightlifters participated at this two days National youth & junior Weightlifting Championships held at Punjab University grounds, Lahore.
A great no of audience and sports lovers witnessed this mega event with record no of entries in Pakistan weightlifting history. It is pertinent to note that 2015 was a very successful year for PWLF with 19 record medals. The participation of this high no shows the popularity of power sport among the youth and junior weightlifters in the country. Eleven elite clubs form the whole country qualified for this 2 days National Championships held on 25-26 March at Lahore.
While Senior National Weightlifting Championships will be organized in first week May 2016 in which all affiliated units of PWLF will participate for the top honours.
