Lahore: Scores of People gather at the gate of Gulshan Park –Lahore on 28th March for a candle vigil and protest to express solidarity with the victims of the terrorist attack and to protest against the culture of hatred, extremism and violence which has paralyzed the public life and there is an atmosphere of terror all around.
The participants at this occasion lightened candles to remember all those who lost their lives and chanted slogans against all those who are killing people, their supporters, facilitators and financiers. They demanded that the government must come out of its lip –service and should do something practical to save the lives of people.
Abdullah Malik, President of Civil Society Network at this occasion said that we are deeply disturbed at the loss of precious lives and extend our solidarity with the victims and their families. “This is very unfortunate that the government and all those responsible for the safety and security have remained failed to stop the terrorist activities and apprehend those involved directly or indirectly. Therefore it is time for the Government to show its seriousness and take action against the terrorist outfits without any discrimination of good or bad immediately”.
Rwadari Tehreek Chairman while addressing the participants said that “our people, especially the children have been even deprived of their right to recreation, play, celebrations and education and they are not safe anywhere and living a life of threat and terror. It seems that the future of our children is at stake because of all those elements who are carrying out terrorist activities and those who are supporting and facilitating these inhumane acts.
“Enough is Enough’ and we call upon the serious attention of the Government, state apparatus, the political parties and all other stake-holders to make short term and long term policy and strategy to counter the culture of hatred, extremism and violence in the name of religion and sect. Merely lip-service cannot reverse the worst ever situation and we demand practical steps”.
