370 victims of bomb blast brought to different hospitals: Spokesman

Hamza ShahbazLahore: As many as 370 victims of Gulshan Iqbal Park bomb blast were brought to different hospitals for treatment. Best medical treatment arrangements were ensured in the hospitals due to which the families of victims expressed their satisfaction over the treatment of the injured. All the medicines and disposables items used in surgeries were provided to the patients free of cost.

According to the spokesman of Punjab Health Department, as soon as the news was heard, Secretary Specialized Healthcare Najam Ahmad Shah immediately rushed to the Jinnah Hospital where majority of bomb blast victims were shifted for the treatment.

Secretary Health Najam Ahmad Shah immediately assigned duties to all Additional as well as Deputy Secretaries in different hospitals to supervise the relief activities for the injured. The said officers monitored the treatment facilities to the victims and remained in contact with the Secretary Health to apprise him of the situation.

Kh. Salman Rafiq also visited Lahore General Hospital and Mayo Hospital, Hamza Shahbaz visited Services Hospital where he inquired after the health of injured persons and supervised the treatment arrangements. 370 victims of bomb blast were shifted to different hospitals out of them 18 patients were shifted to Mayo Hospital, 122 to Jinnah Hospital, 46 to Services Hospital, 20 to Ganga Ram Hospital, 70 to Lahore General Hospital, 59 to Shaikh Zayed Hospital and 35 were brought to Farooq Hospital. Moreover, 66 dead bodies were also shifted to the hospitals out of which 33 were male, seven female and 26 children.

Till Monday morning, 106 persons receiving minor injuries were discharged from the hospitals whereas 172 were still under treatment in different hospitals out of them 76 are male, 47 are female and 49 are children. Immediately after hearing the news of bomb blast in Gulshan Iqbal Park, Secretary Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Najam Ahmad Shah declared emergency in all government hospitals in Lahore and all doctors, nurse and paramedics reached the hospitals where they provided best medical aid to the injured with professional zeal and a number of surgeries were conducted to save human lives.

Secretary Health Najam Ahmad Shah again visited the hospitals on Monday to inquire after under-treatment patients. The people belong to different walks of life and media appreciated the satisfactory arrangements made by the Punjab government for the treatment of bomb blast victims.
