German Dr.Poetis visits Patty’ Child Clinic

Mandi Bahauddin(Sher Gondal) : Two years ago a philanthropist from Germany Dr.Poetis came to Chillianwala, a village about 15 km east from here to meet a friend Murad Baba Advocate and stayed for sometime there.

During meeting with locals, he was told people of the area lack maternal and child care facilities. Considering this as humanitarian and serious issue he started building a maternity and child care centre with name of Patty’ Child Clinic on land donated by villagers.

On its completion, he came in January this year and inaugurated the centre, and handed over to Government Health Department.

Dr. Poetis accompanied by Consul Murad Baba revisited the clinic and watched its functioning.

While briefing, Rural Health officials informed the Guest that more than three thousand women were checked up and treated and 142 babies were born in the clinic.

Ahson Mahmood Baba arranged lunch in honor of Poetis at his residence where notables of the area were also invited including Zia Ullah Ranjha from Mianwal. Taking advantage of the occasion he also informed the guest about lack of medical maternity and child care facilities in area of Mianwal Ranjha and requested for construction of Maternity and Child clinic.

Accepting the request the Guest announced to build similar Child Clinic at Mianwal as he had constructed at Chillianwala. Notables of the area present there thanked the guest for providing them medical facilities in form of Maternity and Child Clinics and appreciated his humanitarian services for humanity.

The Guest with his delegation also visited site where Chillianwala Battle between British East India Company forces and Khalsa Army commanded by General Sher Singh was fought in 1849.
