Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that the challenge of elimination of energy crisis will be met at any cost. He said that engineers and labourers working on gas power plant in Bhikki, Sheikhupura are discharging an important national responsibility and their look after and provision of facilities is the responsibility of project administration and Punjab government. He said that he will personally monitor provision of facilities to these workers.
He was addressing a gathering of engineers, experts, government officers and labourers after reviewing the pace of work on gas power plant at Bhikki, Sheikhupura today.
The Chief Minister said that the nation is looking forward to timely completion of power projects, therefore, delay in their implementation cannot be tolerated. He said that work should be carried out as a challenge wherever energy projects are being implemented so that powerhouses are completed within stipulated period and production of electricity is increased.
Shahbaz Sharif said that government will come up to expectations of the nation in every sector including energy. He said that all out efforts are being made to meet the challenge of resolving energy problem.
He said that Punjab government is setting up a gas-based 1180 megawatts power plant at Bhikki, Sheikhupura with its own resources and the project will be completed by the end of next year and cheaper electricity will be available. He said that Punjab government has made investment in the gas-based power project, however, this project will supply electricity to the whole country.
He said that this project is not only of Punjab but of the whole country and will accelerate the efforts being made under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for resolving energy crisis and elimination of load-shedding. He said that sincere efforts being made for eliminating darkness of load-shedding will bear fruit.
The Chief Minister said that work is being carried out round the clock under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif for removing darkness from every nook and corner of the country.
Shahbaz Sharif reviewed the pace of work on gas power plant being set up by Punjab government at Bhikki, Sheikhupura and expressed satisfaction. He directed authorities concerned to spare no effort for the timely completion of the project as nation expects that power projects are completed within timeframe.
The Chief Minister was also given a briefing on the project. Chief Executive Officer Quaid-e-Azam Thermal Power Private Ltd. Company Ahad Khan Cheema gave a briefing on the progress of Bhikki power plant project.
