Ahmad Baig wins the 25th Corps Commander Cup Golf tournament

Lahore : A passionate competition was witnessed between national level golfers during the 25th Corps Commander Cup Golf tournament that was held at the lush green Lahore Garrison Golf and Country Club .

Commander Lahore Corps Lieutenant General Sadiq Ali who is also the Patron in Chief was the chief guest and awarded prizes to the winners.

Ahmad Baig of Lahore Garrison Golf and Country Club was declared the winner of the tournament. While the trophy for the team event was also lifted by LGG & CC. The Defence Raya Golf Club secured 2nd position.

Longest Drive Category prize was won by Commander Lahore Corps Lieutenant General Sadiq Ali with 282 yards drive while Closest to the Pin category was won by Major General (r) Qasim Qureshi with 10 feet from the pin.

In the Amateur’s Category, the 1st prize was won by Nadeem Aslam of LGG & CC with 228 gross. The 2nd position went to Fakhar Imam of Defence Raya, he played 228 gross. Salman Jehangir of Lahore Gymkhana was 3rd with 230 gross. While in net the 1st position was won by Ahmad Baig of LGG&CC with 205 net, 2nd position went to Lieutenant Colonel Ayub of Gujranwala Garrison Golf Club with 211 net. The 3rd prize was won by Omer Khawaja of Sialkot Golf Club with 214 net.

In the Senior Amateur Category in gross, 1st prize was won by Javed A Khan from Lahore Gymkhana with 77. While the 2nd and the 3rd position went to Dr. Javed Iqbal and Wing Commander (r) Muhammad Omar Khan of LGG&CC with 78 and 78 gross respectively. In net 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions went to Lieutenant Colonel Farhat Pervaiz Kayani, Colonel Chengez Wali and Brig Abdul Qayyum respectively.

In the senior officer’s invitation match in the gross category, the 1st position was won by Director General Pakistan Rangers (Punjab) Major General Umar Farooq Burki, 2nd position was won by Brigadier Shahid Wahab Rao and 3rd position went to Brigadier Zubair Masood. In net category Air Marshal Farooq Qari, Rear Admiral Amjad Khan Niazi and Air Chief Marshal Tanvir Mahmood secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively.

In the Veterans Gross Category, the 1st prize was won by Major (r) Omar Daraz Najmi, 2nd Brigadier Iftikhar Ahmad of LGG&CC and 3rd prize was won Mr. Pervaiz Imtiaz of Lahore Gymkhana. While in net the 1st position was won by Javed A Zia of LGG&CC, the 2nd position went to Major Salah Uddin of LGG&CC and 3rd prize was won by Zahoor Hussain Gillani of Goth Machi.

In the Ladies Gross category, the 1st prize was won by Ms. Ghazala Yasmin of LGG&CC, 2nd prize was won by Dr. Rubab Haider of Lahore Gymkhana and 3rd prize was won by Ms. Ana Games Gill of Royal Palm. While in net the 1st position was won by Ms. Zaib un Nisa of Royal Palm, the 2nd position went to Ms. Shahnaz Moin of Rafiqui Golf Club and 3rd prize was won by Ms. Shabana Waheed of LGG&CC.
