Lahore: Government has issued letters to ulema for seeking their opinion regarding Punjab Women Protection Bill. The spokesman Punjab government told that letters have been issued to 47 prominent ulema and members of Punjab Quran Board, Muthida Ulema Board and Ittihad Bainul Muslimeen while process of issuance of letters to the members of divisional and district peace committees Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, DG Khan and Bahawalpur has also been completed. Process of issuance of letters to other Ulema is near completion.
On the directions of Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, letter issued by Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan states that Punjab government cannot even think to approve any law against Islam or Islamic teachings.
In view of importance of improvement in human effort in any sector, Punjab government has decided to request ulema to send their suggestions regarding the afore mentioned bill.
In his special letter, Rana Sanaullah has appealed to the ulema to inform Punjab government not only about objections and their alternate recommendations regarding the sections of Punjab Protection Women Bill which according to ulema are not in accordance with Islamic teachings.
In his special letter, Rana Sanaullah, while drawing attention of the ulema, informed that a large number of women in Pakistan are facing serious problems like misbehave, physical violence besides deprivation of genuine rights. Redressal of grievances of the women becoming victim of misconduct is responsibility of the government and it is making efforts to discharge its responsibility through Women Protection Bill.
