Lahore: Punjab Education Foundation has planned to arrange teachers training of partnering schools under its new models. The services of master trainers have also been hired for better and improved training of school teachers for providing quality education to the students.
This has been disclosed in a departmental circular issued by the PEF Director Ms. Ayesha Nauman here today. According to the circular, two models namely School Leadership Program (SLP) and Teachers Development Program (TDP) have been introduced. Both the models consist of two levels. Each level of SLP is of four-day duration and is meant for head teachers; while each level of TDP for teachers consists of five-days.
It has been divulged that trainings would commence from July, 2016 and most of the trainings would be held in summer holidays. The trainings would be managed by experienced and trained PEF staff. The trainees would be given suitable honorarium too. It is planned that a suitable partner school would be selected for training purposes; and the schools included in this cluster would attend the training.
The circular stipulates that participants would appear for test through a selected testing firm for every level of training in one to three months duration. The testing centre would be set up in the same Tehsil and the first test fee would be borne out by the PEF. It is required that the teachers and head teachers, passing the level-one test, would be eligible for level-two. With a view to encourage the teachers, the TDP passers will be awarded onetime honorarium amounting to Rs. 5000. Similarly, a teacher serving in a PEF partner school continuously for one year will be eligible of Rs. 5000 honorarium by the foundation, and this will be repeated each year. It has also been stated that schools will be categorized according their certified teachers.
The circular has further directed that entry of information of teachers and head teachers in PEF managed Teachers Information System (TIS) is mandatory. The partner schools should, therefore, ensure participation of their teachers and head teachers in PEF sponsored trainings for making this model a success, concluded the circular.
