Lahore: A 12-member delegation of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) visited Rescue 1122 Headquarters on Friday & inspected different functions of Punjab Emergency Service including Provincial Monitoring Cell; Monitoring, Complaint Cell, Citizens Feedback System, Real Time Emergency Management Monitoring through IP Cameras and other departments as well. Furthermore, the delegation was briefed about different functions of Rescue 1122 through mock exercise of emergency medical treatment, firefighting, rescue from height and using of Incident Command Vehicle.
Earlier, the Director General, Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) Brig. Dr. Arshad Zia welcomed the delegation, which comprised of Wing Commander Ahmed Shiraz, Wing Commander Ovais Amjad, Squadron Leader Absar Farogh, Squadron Leader Habibullah, Squadron Leader Kashif Jibran, Squadron Leader Suleman,Squadron Leader Muhammad Waqas, Squadron Leader Hashim Afridi, Squadron Leader Jawad Ahmed, Squadron Leader Tahir Raza, Flight Lieutenant Aaqib Siddiqui and Flight Lieutenant Muhammad Ali.
The Director General, Brig. (R) Dr. Arshad Zia briefed the delegation about the emergency service and its development into the largest emergency humanitarian service of Pakistan from a pilot project from Lahore in 2004. He stated that Rescue 1122 has rescued over 3.9 million emergency victims through its emergency ambulance service, rescue & fire service, water rescue teams and urban search & rescue teams during the past 11 years. He further said that upon the directions of the Chief Minister, Punjab, Urban Search & Rescue Teams (USAR) are being developed in all divisions of the Punjab, which shall be equipped with latest emergency tools and heavy machinery. During visit of the Provincial Monitoring Cell, the delegation was briefed about different systems of operations, rescue and monitoring through latest technology and software. “This step shall enhance operational capacity of Rescue 1122,” he added. The delegation also acknowledged the emergency services of Rescue 1122 and appreciated its role in emergency management. “No doubt, Rescue 1122 has proved a public-friendly department of the Government of Punjab through its performance and unique work,” the delegation added.
