Tax culture is vital for protecting the future of the coming generations:Ayesha Ghaus Pasha

Lahore: Provincial Minister for Finance Dr. Ayesha Ghaus Pasha has said that Punjab is a populous province and its population is more than 100 million. She said that more than half population comprises people of 15 to 25 years age who are guarantee for the future of Pakistan. She said that increase in resources is essential for the provision of health, education, transport, business and job opportunities to them.Ayesha Ghaus Pasha

Dr. Ayesha Ghaus Pasha said that a big portion of government resources consists of revenue receipts and their nonpayment can put the future of the country into danger. She said that promotion of payment of tax culture is vital for protecting the future of the coming generations and bringing Pakistan at par with the developed countries.

She expressed these views while addressing the inaugural function of restaurant invoice monitoring system developed with the assistance of Punjab IT Board and Punjab Revenue Authority.

The Provincial Minister said that this automatic system of tax receipts from hotels is a milestone in the history of the province which will not only restore the confidence of taxpayers but also enhance the tax receipts.

Dr. Ayesha Ghaus Pasha disclosed that more than 90 restaurants of Lahore have been registered under this system which is a great success of Punjab Revenue Authority. She thanked Punjab IT Board and Punjab Food Authority on the assistance of PRA and expressed the hope to further strengthen this partnership in future.

Chairman Punjab IT Board Dr. Umar Saif informed the participants about the method of monitoring system and appreciated the efforts of PRA . Chairman PRA Raheel Sidiqi addressing the function announced to observe taxpayers day on April 10. He told that besides restaurants invoice monitoring system, Punjab Revenue Authority is also launching an Amanat Scheme under which those paying sales tax in hotels will be awarded cash prizes so that non-taxpayers should be motivated to pay tax. He said that cash prizes will be distributed through balloting on April 10.
