Lahore: A delegation of journalists from Azad Jammu & Kashmir visited Punjab Institute of Cardiology, today. Chief Executive PIC Prof. Nadeem Hayat Malik and MS Dr. Sohail Saqlain welcomed the delegation and gave a briefing about the institution.
Prof. Nadeem Hayat Malik told that PIC is a state of the art institution of cardiac diseases where free treatment facilities are being provided to more than 90 percent patients. He told that about three thousand patients visit outdoor daily and one month’s free medicines are provided to them.
Nadeem Hayat informed that training facilities are being provided to postgraduate trainee doctors in PIC. He said that the doctors belonging to SAARC countries are also getting training in the institution.
MS Dr. Sohail Saqlain told that pediatric cardiac surgery has been started in PIC and all facilities of diagnostic and treatment of cardiac diseases are available under one roof. He said that PIC is being developed according to the vision of Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif.
He said that new emergency block comprising 200 beds is in the final stages of completion which will be inaugurated next month. Dr. Saqlain said that after being operational of emergency block, lot of problems of the patients visiting emergency will be resolved.
The journalists visited various sections of PIC and appreciated the facilities available in pathology laboratory equipped with modern equipments. They also lauded the vision of Chief Minister Punjab on the steps of providing best treatment facilities of cardiac diseases.
Prof. Nadeem Hayat Malik said that on the orders of Chief Minister Punjab, PIC is ready to provide technical assistance for setting up cardiac institute in Azad Jammu & Kashmir.
