Ex-Servicemen Society needs improvement in its organizational structure :Haroon Pasha

Mandi Bahauddin(Sher Gondal) : Pakistan Ex-Servicemen Society badly needs improvement in its organizational structure right from District up to PESS HQs level.

This was said on Saturday by Major General (Retd) Haroon Pasha when talking to media persons here at Malakwal on his return from attending the meeting at Rawalpindi. He said a meeting of PESS National Council members was held in Rawalpindi with Chief Organizer PESS Commodore Farooq Mirza.

The National Council members from Attock, Jhelum, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Khushab, Gujrat and Mandi Bahauddin including Lt Gen (Retd) Faiz Ali Chishti, Brig (Retd) Mansoor, Col (Retd) Javed, Col (Retd) Pervaiz, JCOs and NCOs attended the meeting.

He said the meeting observed that after death of PESS former president Gen Hamid Gul a vacuum was created in leadership channel. Program for ex-servicemen welfare and strengthening PESS organization at every level was left half way. The meeting also pointed out that present President PESS Lt Gen (Retd) Ali Kuli Khan was heading some other NGOs and private enterprises including Pakistan Ex-Servicemen Association (PESA).

The meeting observed that he had no time for activating PESS to achieve its objectives. Some of the members said there were complaints from soldiers that the PESS was losing its existence, terming it as dead horse. Pasha further told that meeting unanimously resolved to hold a meeting of National Council to find out ways and means to reorganize PESS and make it an effective welfare organization.

This was call of the hour to carry out policies and agenda given by Gen Hamid Gul. When asked he said Chief Organizer Farooq Mirza would announce schedule of next meeting of National Council within a few days.
