Lahore: Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq, has called upon the Supreme Court to declare financial corruption as terrorism and order registration of terrorism cases against all those involved in plunder and the confiscation of their properties.
Addressing a seminar on “the Autonomy of the Institutions” organized by the Supreme Court Bar Association, at Alhamra Hall, he said that individuals had plundered billions of the public money and were living in luxuries while the corrupt mafia in the government was trying to protect those involved in mega corruption.
Sirajul Haq said that the NAB must be given a free hand to lay hands on all those who had plundered public money, and added that the Punjab was not an island that should be outside the NAB’s operation.
He said that dictatorial attitude of the rulers had done irreparable harm to the country. He said that those who returned to the assemblies by spending billions could not be true representatives of the masses.
Others who spoke on the occasion included SCBA chief Syed Ali Zafar, PPP central leader Qamar Zaman Kaira, and other SC bar office bearers.
The JI chief said that the corrupt elite had deprived the masses of their pleasures and cool. He said that the state institutions were the slaves of rulers and danced on his tunes. As a matter of fact, he said, the rulers had not allowed the institutions to function freely.
Besides, he said, the rulers were trying to drift the country from Islam by freeing CIA operative Raymond Davis and executing Mumtaz Qadri.
He said that democracy, politics and economy had got entangled in the mire of corruption. Besides financial corruption, moral and electoral corruption was sat its peak. Due to which millions of people were deprived of basic facilities of education, education health and jobs.
Sirajul Haq said that if the 375 billion dollars of the country that were lying abroad were brought to the country, all foreign debits could be paid off and the country could be freed from the slavery of the IMF and World Bank.
He called upon the Election Commission to allow only those parties to contest participate in the 2018 elections as were holding party elections regularly.
He said that most of the political parties had become family concerns and simply aimed at self service instead of the service of the masses.
