Lahore: A delegation of investors led by Malaysian Deputy Minister for Transport Datuk Ab Aziz Kaprawi met Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, here today. Matters of mutual interest, Pak-Malaysia relations and promotion of cooperation in trade, economic and other sectors were discussed in the meeting. It was agreed on the occasion that besides strengthening of trade and economic relations, cooperation in different sectors especially livestock and Halal food would also be increased. The Chief Minister congratulated Malaysian Minister and members of the delegation on the launching of flight operation of Malindo Airline to Pakistan.
Speaking on the occasion, Shahbaz Sharif said that there are strong friendly relations between Pakistan and Malaysia and the launching of flight operation of Malindo Airline to Pakistan will further promote trade and economic relations as well as tourism. He said that Pakistan especially Punjab is an important province with regard to investment and provincial government is extending maximum facilities to foreign investors on priority basis due to which foreign investment is increasing. He said that Malaysian investors should benefit from investment opportunities in Punjab and assured that they will be provided all necessary facilities.
The Chief Minister said that there are vast investment opportunities in livestock and Halal food sector in the province and the provincial government wants to promote cooperation with Malaysia in this regard. He said that a modern slaughter house has been set up in Lahore where entire slaughtering process is carried out according to international standards of hygiene.
Shahbaz Sharif said that Malaysia has made tremendous progress in research and development sectors and Punjab government wants to benefit from its experiences. He said that time has come to promote relations between and Pakistan and Malaysia on sound foundations in research and development, Halal food, tourism and livestock sectors. He stressed the need for maximum exchange of business delegations between the two countries for strengthening of economic and trade relations.
Malaysian Minister Datuk Ab Aziz Kaprawi said that Malaysia wants to promote trade and economic relations with Pakistan especially Punjab and the flight operation of Malindo Airline will strengthen trade, economic and tourist relations. He said that Pakistan and Malaysia can work together in different sectors.
The Malaysian Minister also invited Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to visit Kuala Lumpur.
Provincial Minister for Industry Ch. Muhammad Shafiq, Pakistani High Commissioner to Malaysia, Secretary Transport, Secretary Industry, Chairman Punjab Investment Board besides Malaysian High Commissioner to Pakistan Dr. Hasrul Sani Bin Mujtabar, Honorary Consul General of Malaysia to Pakistan Datuk Abdul Rafiq Abdul Karim, Chief Executive Officer Malindo Airline and other senior officials were also present on the occasion.
