Lahore:Provincial Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan has said that ten thousand schools are shifted to solar energy in Punjab. Out of these, 5000 schools are in such areas where there is electricity while 5000 other schools are also included in the project, he added.
He stated this while presiding over a departmental meeting, here today. The Minister said that continuous supply of electricity in government schools set up in far-flung areas is need of the hour. By shifting these schools to solar energy, students will be facilitated and a cheaper source of electricity will be available to the schools. He said that required funds have been transferred to EDOs of the districts of the villages where schools are being shifted to solar energy. He said that this project will be completed during the current year.
Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan said that promotion of education is basic point of development vision of Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif. He said that under the banner of “Parho Punjab Barho Punjab” education department is making round the clock efforts for providing basic facilities in the schools, preparation of syllabus in accordance with modern demands, awarding prizes to position holder male and female students of the province besides promoting education through their visits to foreign countries and removing darkness of ignorance.
He said that Punjab Education Department has focused its attention to provision of free textbooks and quality education to the students. He further said that substantial funds have been allocated for providing facilities in government schools and successful efforts are being made for strengthening the biggest education system of the world in Punjab.
