Lahore: Secretary General, Jamaat e Islami, Liaqat Baloch, has said that corruption was the root cause of all evils but the rulers, instead of chopping it off, were persistently watering it and it had spread over all walks of life due to official patronage.
Addressing the participants of the JI central workshop at Mansoora on Saturday, he warned that if an across the board action was not taken against the plunderers of public wealth, the unrest and despondency among the masses would only deepen and lead to disastrous consequences.
He said that indiscriminate accountability and electoral reforms were essential for ending terrorism, and added that the National Action Plan against terrorism must be implemented in its true spirit.
Liaqat Baloch said that if the operation in Karachi was not carried to its logical end, peace and stability could not return to the port city.
He deplored that the rulers in Islamabad were adopting a slavish attitude towards India under US pressure and were even confessing the crimes the country had not committed, thus inviting an attack by the enemy. He said that Kashmir was the core issue of the region without whose solution, India’s terrorism in the area could not come to an end.
He said that thousands of operatives of subversive agencies were roaming around in the country under the garb of NGO workers and nobody had the courage to talk against them. He said that Federal Interior Minister Ch. Nisar Ali Khan had spoken against them but nobody had taken notice of that. He demanded a thorough screening of the foreign NGPOs in order to check the conspiracies going on against the country’s ideology and sovereignty.
Liaqat Baloch said the foreign NGOs were active against the Islam, mosques and madrissahs and all terrorist activity was linked to them immediately. However, he said, that none of the people wanted by the FIA or NAB in mega corruption scandals had been associated with any madrissah, instead they were educated at the leading US and European universities.
He said that the present corrupt electoral system had disappointed the masses and added that the system of accountability had also being corrupted. The corrupt elite and high government figures were not brought to accountability and only the small fish were hauled up.
