Lahore: Director General Wildlife & Parks Punjab Khalid Ayaz Khan has said that three lionesses have given birth to three cubs each at Lahore Safari Zoo Park. He said that after the birth of these cubs, the
number of lions has become 23 in Lahore Safari Zoo Park.
He disclosed this while talking to media-men at his office, here today. He said that the lionesses giving birth to cubs is one mother (Kaloo) while other two are lionesses are Kajil and Rani. He told that Kajil and Rani had also born at Lahore Safari Zoo Park. He said that staff of Wildlife Department is looking after lionesses properly. He said that cubs are healthy and lionesses are looking after their cubs
properly.
Khalid Ayaz Khan said that at present there are 12 lions in Lahore Zoo while eight in Bahawalpur Zoo, two in Dera Ghazi Khan,three in Loi Bher, two in Vehari and two in Kamalia Wildlife Parks. He said
that the total number of lions in Wildlife Parks and Zoos of Wildlife Department has reached 52 which is appreciable as the lions in such a large number are not available in any other province. He said that the lovers of wildlife will be able to see these cubs during next month.
DG Wildlife said that under the ‘adopt an animal’ scheme of Wildlife Department, any institution or organization can adopt these newly born cubs. He said that Wildlife Parks are not only providing
recreation to the people of the province but also playing role of best breeding farms.
