Mandi Bahauddin ACE booked reader of Tehsildar for accepting bribes

Mandi Bahauddin(Sher Gondal): The Anti-Corruption Establishment the other day nabbed reader of Tehsildar Mandi Bahauddin for accepting bribes.

Reportedly the leader Ijaz had demanded Rs thirty thousand from a small land holder for settling a case relating to partition of land. The landholder managed Rs 7000 and paid to the leader. But the leader asked him to bring remaining amount of Rupees twenty three thousand for the job. The landholder reported the matter to circle officer ACE Ilyas who formed a team and raided Tehsil office and recovered amount of bribe from the leader in presence of Ilaqa Magistrate Sheikh Suleman.

Learning the arrest of the leader some influential persons including Tehsildar Mahmud Bhatti approached the Magistrate for release of the leader but the magistrate refused saying that bribe money was recovered from the culprit in his presence therefore he deserved proper punishment under the law. People of the area have appreciated the magistrate and the ACE circle officer for booking the corrupt reader, Mudassar Abbas who is a senior advocate said reader Ijaz is most corrupt official in revenue department.

He alleged that he has been looting poor farmers with patronage of his senior officers since his posting here but no legal proceeding were initiated to punish him. Anti-Corruption Judge granted 14 days physical remand of the accused for further investigation when ACE produced him the court.
