Lahore General Hospital’s five story extension project of Block-III completed

Lahore General Hospital's five story extension project of Block-IIILahore: Construction work of five story extension project of Block-III in Lahore General Hospital has been completed. The state-of-the-art new building of Phase-III is consisting 18 operation theaters, among those 6 surgical theaters have been functionalized so far.

This was informed by Prof. Khalid Mahmood, Principal Post-Graduate Medical Institute and Lahore General Hospital, here today. Professor of Surgery Dr. Afsar Ali Bhatti, Dr. Sikandar Hayat Gondal, Dr. Tanveer Anwar. MS LGH Dr. Niaz and other administrative doctors were also present on the occasion.

Prof. Khalid Mahmood told that newly constructed block, covering 13300 square feet area has so far cost Rs. 580 million while a total of Rs. 720 million was allocated for the project. He said that the remaining amount of Rs. 140 million would be spent on purchase of medical equipment. He further informed that an ICU consisting 13 beds and 17 private rooms are also available in new centrally air- conditioned building of Block-III.

There are total 18 operation theaters for Surgical, Gynecology, Urology and Orthopedic operations having adjacent wards setup in new Block. He said that new block clearly reflects the health vision of Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif according to which patients would be provided with all kind of facilities under one roof. Prof. Khalid Mahmood also told that a Central Sterilization Supply Department (CSSD) has also been established in the new Block.

Prof. Khalid Mahmood further said that Lahore General Hospital has always played frontline role in the struggle to eradicate dengue and other diseases and this hospital deals with the major chunk of citizens. In this background, the timely completion of on- going projects in LGH is very important, as it will ensure standard medical help to people.
