Sit in would continue till arrest of the accused: Dr. Tariq Chaddar

Mandi Bahauddin(Sher Gondal) :  One week has passed Dr. Shahid been murdered. Police has not been able so far to trace the culprits committing the murder.

On the call of PMA doctors of the district have been on strike and medical facilities including that of government are closed. However emergencies in DHQ and THQ hospitals are open to deal with critical cases. “Sit in” of doctors at DHQ Hospital started on Friday, continues.

On Saturday DPO Raja Basharat accompanied by ADC Afzaal Warriach visited “sit in” camp and briefed the doctors on progress of the investigation. He ensured “sit in” participants that police was working hard and hopefully would arrest the murderers soon. With this he asked doctors to end strike and “sit in” and restore noble duties of serving ailing humanity.

Reportedly PMA leaders refused and insisted to continue strike and “sit in” till arrest of murder accused. On the other side people reporting sick in hospital and primary medical facilities in rural area are refused treatment. They have appealed concerned authorities to at least direct government serving doctors to end strike and wind up “sit in” in DHQ Hospital to attend to patients for treatment.

Doctors serving in government hospitals and primary health facilities should not become hostage of PMA leaders since they are public paid servants, people said. This scribe when visited hospital some doctors was sitting on chairs at “sit in” camp. Most of them were employees of government.

When asked, PMA President Dr. Tariq Chaddar said the sit in would continue till arrest of accused.

MS DHQ hospital Saad Gondal was also contacted and on a question he said DHQ Hospital staff had joined “sit in” and strikes to show solidarity with doctors’ community.
