Pakistan Army to train rescue trainers :Brig (R) Amir Hamza

Director General Emergency Services Academy Rescue 1122 Brig (R) Amir HamzaLahore: The Director General Emergency Services Academy Rescue 1122 Brig (R) Amir Hamza handed over Rescue 1122 team consisting of 20 Officers/Officials from all over the Punjab to Pakistan Army specialists of Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) for capacity building of the rescue officers and officials as master trainer in the field of Urban Search and Rescue. The rescue team including 9 officers and officials from Emergency Services Academy, 9 Station Coordinators from nine divisional Headquarters, one officer from Lahore and one from Rawalpindi.

These trained teams of master trainers  by USAR specialists of Pakistan Army will further impart training to the Divisional Urban Search and Rescue Teams at Emergency Services Academy, Lahore.

Speaking on the opening ceremony of the Urban Search and Rescue Course the Director General Emergency Services Academy (ESA) Brig (R) Amir Hamza welcomed all team members of Rescue 1122 on Sunday morning and briefed about the importance of Urban Search and Rescue training with reference to increasing number of complex emergencies and responsibility of Rescue Service as first response organization. He said it is the need of hour to have such specialized emergency equipment and special units specifically trained in management of complex emergencies, structure collapses and earthquakes etc

He emphasized to observe discipline, follow guidelines of trainers and utilize maximum time to get mastery on Urban Search and Rescue Skills and techniques as USAR training will be integral part of Rescue training course so all master trainers should work hard to get command over the subject for further quality training of Divisional USAR Units at Emergency Services Academy.

Brig (R) Amir Hamza DG ESA further said I believe that capacity of the Emergency Service will be enhanced after training of the master trainers and they would be able to train USAR Divisional Headquarters teams after completion of their training. He mentioned that he will personally monitor USAR training time to time to ensure the best output of the master trainers in specialized field.

He also requested the training coordinator /specialist of Pakistan Army to train rescue trainers in a way that they could further impart USAR training to dedicated Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) teams selected for Divisional Headquarters Rawalpindi and Lahore soon after the completion of training of master trainers. Furthermore, Rescue 1122 will complete this process with the support of Pakistan Army in terms of ensuring quality training to specialized teams as Pakistan Army possess requisite modern and sophisticated Urban Search & Rescue equipment as well as trained human resource.
