Lahore: Punjab Government has signed agreements with Danish wind power generation company for generation of 1320 megawatt energy from wind and coal in south Punjab.
These agreements reflect that Punjab government attaches great importance to progress and prosperity of south Punjab. Implementation of these projects will not only result in increasing investment but job opportunities will also become available to local people.
After identification of wind corridor in Rajanpur, VESTAS, a Danish Wind Power generation company of international level will work on setting up of four projects of generating 250 megawatt each from wind. Letter of Intent has been given to the concerned company in this regard while Chinese company Hauneng Shandong Power will establish two coal based 660 megawatt projects in Rahim Yar Khan, South Punjab which will generate an overall 1320 megawatt electricity.
These projects will help eliminate load shedding and expedite the pace of progress and prosperity in South Punjab.
