Lahore: Punjab Minister for Sports Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, on Tuesday, said Punjab government will continue to encourage young and talented players in future, he said this in a meeting with young squash player Israr Ahmed who won the US Junior Open Squash Championship in December 2015. Director General Sports Punjab Usman Anwar was also present on this occasion.
Rana Mashhood said: “Israr is another example of top class talent that we have in our country in abundance. These youngsters are our real asset. Our youth must follow young stars like Israr if they want to earn respect in international sports community”.
DG SBP Usman Anwar also appreciated the achievements of young Israr, who won four international junior squash titles in just two years’ time. Israr clinched the Junior British Open in Britain in 2014, Asian Junior Squash Championship in Iranian capital Tehran last year and Milo All-Star Squash Championship in Malaysia.
Usman Anwar further said that Sports Board Punjab, in the shape of Punjab Youth Festival, has provided a suitable platform to potential youngsters of the country during the last four years. “We will continue to provide such forums to our youngsters in future as well,” he added.
Israr, on this occasion has expressed his gratitude to Punjab Minister for Sports and DG SBP for encouraging him. He showed great determination to keep Pakistan’s flag high in the next international squash events.
