Lahore: Provincial Minister for Women Development Hameeda Waheed ud Din has said that government is implementing a comprehensive programme for the economic empowerment of women.
She was addressing a function in connection with free distribution of 204 cattle among rural women under Chief Minister’s programme for the welfare of poor women at District Jinnah Public School Mandi Bahauddin, today. Member National Assembly Nasir Iqbal Bosal, Additional Secretary Livestock Ashiq Hussain, District Coordination Officer Zafar Khan Sayal and other notables were also present on the occasion.
Hameeda Waheed ud Din said that cattle are being distributed free of charge among rural women under the second phase of balloting. She said that under this programme, 450 buffaloes and cows and 850 goats and sheep will be distributed in Mandi Bahauddin while in the second phase another 224 buffaloes and cows will be given. She said that under this programme, cattle are being given free of charge to such rural women as are extremely poor or have less than one acre of land and their at least one child is school going.
Hameeda Waheed ud Din said that it is an ideal project for the welfare of poor women. She said that these women will not be able to sell these cattle for three years. She said that all these cattle are insured.
