Lahore: Education-promotion is the priority agenda of the punjab government and its good to see that punjab education foundation is playing an important role in this vital crusade so that every child could make it to a school and improve the quality of life.
Punjab education minister Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan said this while presiding over an important meeting at PEF head office on Saturday. Chairman PEF Engr. Qamar ul Islam Raja and managing director Tariq Mahmood, besides DMD (Ops) Tariq Rafiq, program directors and representatives of the punjab information technology board, were also present.
Rana Mashhood said that 27 percent of the total provincial budget is earmarked for the education sector alone, adding that this proves our strong commitment towards this vital sector, as its the basis of national development. No nation can progress without a vibrant and efficient educational system that could educate and produce best minds to steer the country towards progress and prosperity, he added.
While appreciating the educational role of the punjab education foundation, he said that this foundation has emerged as a successful model which has benefited the lower echelons of the society through its beneficial interventions. It is good to note that educational models of the PEF are efficient, cost effective and result oriented. PEF has encouraged the private entrepreneurs to set up educational institutions in the remote areas and educate the masses through funding provided by the foundation. This has also helped the needy girls to study who couldn’t go afar due to lack of resources.
Earlier, Chairman and MD PEF informed the participants about various initiatives taken by this foundation for the promotion of education in the indigent strata.
