Lahore: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Friday, reiterating government’s commitment to eliminate terrorism from the country, said the economic stability and success against militants, has created hope and optimism among people.
Chairing a meeting here at the PM House, he said ensuring a peaceful Pakistan for the future generations was the top most priority of the government.
The meeting focused on the overall security and economic situation of the country.
The Prime Minister took members of the meeting into confidence on his latest visits to Saudi Arabia, Iran and Switzerland and said Pakistan’s image abroad had improved which was due to the consolidated efforts of government’s team.
The Prime Minister said the business leaders and communities from the world over, viewed Pakistan quite positively, for which the economic team of the government deserved recognition and appreciation.
He emphasized that the country was on the right track to achieve stability, economic progress and provide a conducive environment for all sectors to perform, up to their true potential.
The Prime Minister was briefed in detail about the tragic incident of Bacha Khan University, Charsadda and the follow-up investigations, carried out in this regard.
He reaffirmed his government’s categorical resolve to continue the war on terror until the last terrorist was eliminated from soil of the country.
“Perpetrators and facilitator of the heinous act of killing our innocent children at the place of their education will be brought to justice,” the Prime Minister categorically said.
He said that the ongoing military operation Zarb-e-Azb had broken the backbone of terrorists who had resorted to hit soft targets, out of sheer frustration, however, he added “we will not let their evil agenda to succeed”.
The Karachi operation also came under discussion during the meeting and it was agreed that since the operation had yielded positive results, it would continue till its logical conclusion.
The meeting appreciated the matchless sacrifices and coordinated efforts of the Law Enforcement Agencies in regard to operation Zarb-e-Azb and Karachi operation.
The meeting was attended by Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Railways Minister Saad Rafique,
PM’s Advisor Sartaj Aziz and Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi, Senator Mushahid Ullah Khan, Irfan Siddiqi, Dr Asif Kirmani, Capt (R) Muhammad Safdar MNA and other senior officials of the government.
Meanwhile; Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Friday directed that the development work in Islamabad should be expedited and all the projects should be completed within the stipulated time.
He emphasized that the development projects should not in any way affect the city’s national park and the master plan of the capital should remain intact.
The Prime Minister was chairing a meeting to review progress of development projects of the Capital Development Authority (CDA).
Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD), Tariq Fazl Chaudhry, Chairman CDA and other senior government officers attended the meeting.
Dr. Tariq Fazl Chaudhry briefed the Prime Minister about the progress on the on-going projects in Islamabad.
The Prime Minister gave instructions that CDA should find innovative ways to remove encroachments and illegal occupation of the state land by employing technology like use of Imagery from SUPARCO.
The meeting also discussed in detail the organizational affairs of CDA.
The Prime Minister ordered ban on further recruitment within CDA and said that meritorious officers should be entrusted with the responsibilities by replacing incompetent and dishonest officers.
The Prime Minister also directed to form a municipal police with special training and uniform in CDA for enforcement of regulatory functions of the Authority.
