Lahore: Chairman Punjab IT Board (PITB) Dr. Umar Saif says it is wonderful to replicate PITB’s e-Vaccs application in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) for improving immunization coverage. It was stated by him while talking to the PITB team on visit to KP for mutual discussion on the collaboration on Wednesday.
Dr. Saif said “besides making things better for the common citizens, such collaborations may also improve inter-provincial harmony needed nationwide. We will extend full cooperation to other provinces in the best public interest so that Pakistan becomes a developed and prosperous country.”
Invited by KP Health Department, the PITB team headed by Director Punjab Public Reform Management Program (PPRMP) Ms Komal Khan conducted detailed meetings with the Health Secretary KPK Dr. Jamal Yusouf and other EPI officers to implement e-Vaccs Program in KP.
Dr. Saif said “with an aim to increase transparency and efficiency through smart monitoring of field staff, e-Vaccs has shown significant improvement in the performance of vaccinators across Punjab. Used by at least 3700 vaccinators in Punjab, it enables the authorities to monitor vaccinators’ attendance, area coverage, number of children vaccinated and number and type of vaccine administered.
Due to this ICT tool, the attendance of vaccinators has been improved from 21 to 91 % while 18% improvement observed in overall coverage in Punjab.” He told that the World Bank has recently applauded PITB’s e-Vaccs program in an article published in the South Asia Journal volume 1 issue 2 December 2015.
